Linzertorte!

Wednesday 1 November 2017

The Linzertorte is an ideal cake for breakfast or for an energetic snack. The sweet smell of spices and the rich flavour makes it perfect during winter, with a nice cup of tea, to help regain all energies after a day skiing!

This cake originated in the city of Linz, in Austria, and it is the oldest cake recipe in the world, dated 1653.

Ingredients:

White flower 250 gr

Ground almonds 250 gr

Butter 250 gr

Sugar 250 gr

Eggs 2

Ground cloves 2

Cinnamon ½ tsp

Grated lemon rind ½

Lingonberry jam

Icing sugar

Method:

Knead all the ingredients to make a classic pastry.

The dough will result soft, spread most of it for the base (about 1,5cm) and cover it with the jam. Use the leftover pasty to make the traditional grid on top of the cake.

Bake at 160°C for 45 minutes. After it has cooled dust with icing sugar.

Buon appetito!
